The integration of Philips Hue lights into interactive brain games presents a compelling way to enhance cognitive training. In this unique format, your lighting environment plays a pivotal role in shaping the overall gameplay experience, directly influencing memory, attention, and concentration skills. With three distinct brain games available, players can engage with nearly 100 levels that progressively increase in difficulty. Each game emphasizes color recognition, prompting players to remain attentive to the dynamic state of their Hue lights, which may change unexpectedly.
Play with Light
To fully engage with this light-controlled brain training experience, a Philips Hue bridge paired with at least one color light is essential. While it is possible to partake in the game without any connected lights, the experience is markedly enhanced by their presence. It is important to note that dimmable on/off lights are incompatible with the app, as all gameplay mechanics are built around color interaction.
How to Setup
The onboarding process is straightforward and consists of three steps to connect your Philips Hue lights to the games:
- Step 1: Ensure that your Hue bridge is on the same WiFi network as the device you will be using for the app.
- Step 2: Once detected, connect the Hue bridge by pressing the button on the device.
- Step 3: The app will display a list of your Philips Hue color lights, allowing you to select which ones to include in the game.
How to Play
Each of the three brain games features 30 levels of escalating difficulty, along with a classic mode for players to challenge their high scores. In 'Color Train', participants must observe, memorize, and replicate an ever-lengthening sequence of colors illuminated by their Hue lights, thus exercising short-term memory and attention skills. 'Memory Match' allows players a brief period to memorize a color pattern before selecting tiles corresponding to their chosen light's color. Lastly, 'Side Swiper' introduces a playful twist on the renowned Stroop test; players swipe cards based on whether the displayed word or color aligns with their Hue light's current state. This game trains concentration, attention, and mental flexibility through engaging gameplay mechanics.
